Grandchildren for Rent
Hello, I am Nisa DEMİR.
The volunteering process I experienced within the Grandchildren for Rent ESC project became a very special period in which I discovered how valuable solidarity and sharing between different generations can be. For two full months, we spent time with elderly people, supported them in their daily lives, talked with them and tried to help with their needs. They also tried to help us with our needs :)
Volunteering and Solidarity
Our volunteering process was not limited only to the bonds we built with elderly people. We also took an active role in environmental arrangements, improving shared public spaces and different social activities. We saw that working together and even making a small contribution can create a meaningful change in people’s lives. Listening to the life stories of elderly people, learning from their experiences and building sincere bonds between different generations became one of the most valuable parts of this experience for me. At the same time, I had the opportunity to improve my teamwork, sense of responsibility, empathy and communication skills.
Learning from Different Generations
During my time in Madan, I understood more clearly that volunteering is not only about helping someone. Sometimes a conversation, a short time spent together or a small act of support can be very meaningful for people. The bonds we built with elderly people showed me both the strength of human relationships and the value of intergenerational solidarity.
Sharing the same environment with volunteers from different countries was also one of the most special parts of this process for me. We worked together, learned together, laughed together and had the chance to discover each other’s cultures. Through this project, I did not only contribute to the local community; I also developed myself by gaining new perspectives.
An Unforgettable Experience
Grandchildren for Rent was not only an ESC volunteering project for me. It was an unforgettable experience where I met different generations, produced something together, contributed to my environment and discovered the real meaning of volunteering more closely.
I would like to sincerely thank KOZ-DER for giving me this opportunity. I also thank everyone who supported me, worked with me, met me and helped me collect beautiful memories throughout this process. These two months in Madan will always remain with me as a beautiful memory.
