Hello everyone,
I am Hüseyin. Between 07.04.2025 and 07.06.2025 I had the chance to join a two-month short-term ESC project in Bulgaria through KOZ-DER. It was both instructive and unforgettable.
Throughout my volunteering in Bulgaria we took part in a lot of environment-focused work. Through nature clean-ups, awareness activities and events on sustainable living we contributed to the environment while developing ourselves in these areas. The work increased my sensitivity towards the environment and let me see up close how important sustainable living is in daily life.
What the Project Gave Me
One of the most valuable parts was the chance to work with volunteers from other countries. Coming together with people from other cultures around a shared aim both improved my communication and widened my perspective. The more we worked together, the better I understood that cultural difference does not push people apart but enriches them.
Over those two months I learned a great deal not only in project activities but in everyday life. I built strong bonds with new people, observed different ways of living and grew in many ways through living in another country. I also picked up a little Bulgarian along the way. Even small details like that made the experience far more meaningful.
An Unforgettable Experience
Volunteering in Bulgaria did not only give me new knowledge and new friendships; it also helped me discover myself. Sometimes even a short period in another country can shape how you think, how you see life and what you plan for the future. This project was exactly that for me.
Having this opportunity through KOZ-DER meant a great deal to me. This period, in which I both discovered myself and learned to look at the world through a different window, will always hold a special place in my life.
Thank you to everyone who made this opportunity possible.
