About the Project

The Romania ESC Short-Term project is a short-term ESC volunteering placement taking place in Craiova, Romania between 15.06.2026 and 13.08.2026. It gives young volunteers an active role in youth work, creative activities, media production and community participation.

This is more than a volunteering activity: it gives participants real experience in creativity, social responsibility, intercultural learning and personal growth. Volunteers take an active part in activities with children and young people, in social media visibility and in a range of creative work.

Core Activities

• Volunteering at the youth centre and in local activities
• Running non-formal education activities with children and young people
• Supporting intelligence games, robotics and coding and similar educational activities
• Photography, video production and video editing
• Preparing social media content and supporting visibility work
• Producing interviews, short pieces, podcasts and creative media content
• Taking part in social and cultural work that increases engagement with the local community

Participant Profile

The project suits young people who are interested in volunteering, want to take an active part in creative work, fit well into a team and are open to learning in an international setting.

Participants are expected to be motivated, responsible, communicative and willing to work with people from other cultures. It is a particularly good fit for young people interested in social media, photography, video, youth work and non-formal education.

Accommodation and Meals

Accommodation is covered under ESC. Volunteers stay in a flat close to Craiova city centre, shared with other ESC volunteers. The accommodation has bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen and a bathroom.

Participants receive support for meals and can use the fully equipped kitchen. Basic living needs are supported by the organisation throughout the project, and volunteers stay in safe, well-organised accommodation.

Travel Support

Travel costs are reimbursed according to the Erasmus+ distance band rules. According to the call, travel support may be either 309 or 395 Euro depending on the distance band. Please follow the organisation’s guidance when planning your journey.

Where green travel applies, alternatives to flying can be considered.

Pocket Money and Support

Participants receive food and pocket money support in line with ESC rules. According to the call this is planned as a total of 12 Euro per day, so volunteers have the support they need to cover their basic expenses.
