GrandChildren for Rent

GrandChildren for Rent is an ESC volunteering project focused on social interaction with elderly people, daily support activities, solidarity, and intercultural learning.

About the Project

GrandChildren for Rent is a short-term ESC volunteering project taking place in Madan, Bulgaria between 29.06.2026 and 23.08.2026. The project brings young volunteers together with older people, supports them in their daily lives and strengthens solidarity between generations.

This is more than a volunteering activity: it gives participants real experience in empathy, social responsibility, intercultural learning and personal growth. By building one-to-one relationships with older people, volunteers help them take a more active part in social life and take on a meaningful role within the community.

Core Activities

  • Social interaction and communication with older people
  • Volunteering work that supports daily life
  • Taking part in activities built around solidarity and social responsibility
  • Intercultural learning and sharing within the group
  • Developing empathy, communication and responsibility skills
  • Joining social activities that increase engagement with the local community

Participant Profile

The project suits young people who are interested in volunteering, have a strong sense of social responsibility, are open to communicating with older people and want to take an active role in solidarity work.

Participants are expected to be motivated and responsible, to work well in a team and to be willing to work with people from other cultures. It is a good fit for young people who want to create social impact and gain international volunteering experience.

Accommodation and meals are covered under ESC. Basic living needs are supported by the organisation throughout the project, and volunteers stay in safe, well-organised accommodation.
