A Turkish Evening in Puck: Our Volunteers Shared Türkiye’s Culture with a Henna Night
🇹🇷✨ We told the story of Türkiye in Poland and shared our culture!
The (RE)WRITE YOUR TYPING Erasmus+ youth exchange, in which KOZ-DER takes part as a sending organisation, is taking place from 16 to 23 October 2026 in Puck, on Poland’s Baltic coast. Hosted by Fundacja Autokreacja, the project brings together young people from different countries to explore intentional, creative self-expression in the digital age through writing, photography, drama and artificial intelligence.
Türkiye at the Intercultural Evening
At the project’s intercultural evening, our volunteers introduced Türkiye to the international participants from many different angles. 🌍
Their presentations covered the country’s regions, traditions, hospitality, everyday culture, music and cultural values. They also introduced traditional Turkish drinks and treats from Turkish cuisine, so that participants could not only hear about our culture but also taste and experience it. ☕🍽️
A Symbolic Henna Night
The highlight of the evening was a symbolic henna night (kına gecesi) staged by our volunteers. With a red veil, candles held in open palms and traditional songs, they introduced one of Anatolia’s pre-wedding traditions. Joined by young people from other countries, the performance let everyone feel the meaning behind our traditions and the culture of sharing. 🕯️❤️
Learning by Sharing
On this lovely evening, as young people from different countries listened with curiosity and joined in with their questions, we were proud to share Türkiye’s rich cultural diversity. 🇹🇷🤝🇵🇱
This is one of the best things about Erasmus+: getting to know other cultures closely while sharing your own. We thank our volunteers for their careful preparation and wish them many more great experiences for the rest of the project.
