Erasmus+ Participants Experienced Grape Harvesting in Duruca Village

Within the scope of the Erasmus+ No More Walls, Europe Calls Youth Exchange Project, our participants joined a grape harvesting and drying activity organised in Duruca Village, Kilis.

The programme started with an energizer that increased the participants’ energy and strengthened communication among them. Afterwards, participants were divided into five mixed groups and carried out a grape-cutting task based on teamwork. The activity was planned not as a speed competition, but with a focus on safety, cooperation, correct practice and environmental awareness.

Grape Cutting Activity Was Carried Out

Participants carefully cut grape bunches by using the gloves and fruit knives provided to them. Healthy and high-quality grapes and damaged grapes were collected in separate containers.

The groups were evaluated by jury members according to the criteria of following safety rules, separating the grapes into the correct containers, cutting the bunches without damaging the vines, working as a team and leaving the area clean.

The Grape Drying Process Was Observed

After the harvesting task was completed, participants observed how grapes are dried through traditional methods. In this way, they had the opportunity to learn the journey of grapes from the vineyard to the table through practical experience.

Non-Formal Education and Intercultural Learning

The activity, carried out with the non-formal education approach of Erasmus+, contributed to young people from different countries producing together, sharing tasks, learning about local production culture and gaining awareness about environmental sustainability.

The No More Walls, Europe Calls project continues to remove walls between young people and strengthen intercultural solidarity through shared experiences.
